We are three 19 years old French students in communications/administration, and we are here for a two months Erasmus+ work placement at Link Communication. We were very well received by all the team who made us feel comfortable and who supported us throughout the internship.
We are very glad to have had this experience, which has enabled us to develop our professional and personal skills!
What are we doing at Link and what do we think about this experience?
We carry out a range of tasks at Link such as inputting data, researching potential clients on Hubspot or assisting the campaign team with creating documents. But we also visit live events across the UK so we can speak to the public and act as brand ambassadors.
During our Erasmus experience in a communication agency, we had the incredible opportunity to merge our passion for communication with a multicultural and professional environment. Working alongside talented individuals from diverse backgrounds, we gained firsthand insight into the intricacies of international communication strategies. The agency provided a dynamic platform where we could experiment with innovative tools and technologies like Hubspot which we have never used before! Through client interaction, we improved our intercultural communication skills and language skills on the same occasion.
Overall, our Erasmus experience at Link Communication allowed us to thrive in an international professional setting, broaden our skill set and make valuable connections! As a foreign student, it is especially important to have this kind of experience to forge us before we start our working lives.
We have learnt a lot in the two months we have been here, and we will come away changed by this experience.
What do we think about Leeds?
Leeds is a dynamic city with a rich history. From the moment we set foot on its streets, we were greeted by a vibrant atmosphere and a sense of welcoming warmth. England is a very hospitable and welcoming country, and the people here seem to be very joyful! We had the chance to visit a lot of historic places like Thornton’s Arcade or Kirkstall Abbey and discovered a different culture. Leeds is near several other cities, so we went to Manchester during a Link’s campaign, and we went back to do a bit of sightseeing. We also went to Liverpool, and it is a very radiant city!
What about the accommodation?
We didn’t look for accommodation in Leeds because we wanted to be as close to the company as possible and thanks to some contacts, we were lucky enough to find accommodation in a beautiful little house 5 minutes from Link. It was the best decision we ever made because we were also close to Leeds to get!
Link Communication is a very safe place to do an internship, and you will grow from the experience. Thank you to all the Link team!
– Getting around the city of Leeds is very simple, there is a large train station for fast inter city travel, a bus station in Leeds, with national coach service from National Express, as well as regular local bus services right across the region. Keep in mind that the city centre of Leeds is very pedestrian friendly, with many attractions within easy walking distance.
– Leeds is well known for the variety and mix of styles and cultures. Some place I`d recommend are its vintage and couture shops like Blue Rinse for a detailed insight into the UK’s fashion’s past and Independent bars such as North Bar, Sela and The Reliance are all perfect for an alternative evening out; tasty food, comfy seats, local art on the walls and a killer selection of board games!
– Leeds is wonderful I know, but if you get the chance try to travel a bit outdoor. Near here you can find some really attractive city such as Manchester, Sheffield and York. Or if you love trekking, you have plenty of choice since we are surrounded by Yorkshire Dales National Park, Peak District Park, North York Moors Park…. The choice is up to you! Plus London is only two hours on the train too; so easy for a cheeky weekend!
