Case Studies - Jumbo Games Product Demonstrations and Sample Handouts

Client: Jumbo Games

Agency: Wasgij

Campaign: Product Demonstrations and Sample Handouts

Brief:

  • To create awareness and increase sales for an innovative new type of jigsaw puzzle, Wasgij, through the use of in-store demonstrations and sampling.

High Calibre Promotion Staff

Campaign Description:

  • Mini sample boxes and voucher leaflets were handed out by high calibre promotional staff both inside and outside the largest 15 Argos stores in the UK to raise awareness of the in-store promotion of WASGIJ puzzles.
  • Staff created a mini event area in the store where they could demonstrate how the puzzle works and show potential buyers the unique game proposition.
  • A staff member promoted the activity from the street, whilst further staff members gave the product demonstrations in-store, handing out free samples of the puzzle and promoting the puzzle verbally.

Branding:

  • The teams created a mini area from a table, displaying the samples and full size games as a focal point to communicate to customers and hand out the samples from.
  • The member of staff based outside wore a branded t-shirt and jacket to further promote the Wasgij brand to recipients. The member of staff based inside the store wore a branded t-shirt.
  • Teams commented that the uniforms enhanced the professionalism and effectiveness of the campaign enormously, as well as making the team more approachable on the street.

Results:

  • A total of 20,000 mini box samples were handed out throughout the campaign.
  • Carrying out this campaign in November created a good opportunity for the brand, as it meant more people became aware of the product in the run up to Christmas.
  • Over 90% of all people approached by the promotional staff were very happy to listen to an explanation of the game, accept and retain the sample puzzle and print, and look at it in closer detail.
  • A common response from customers was that they were surprised the mini puzzle was actually free, due to the quality and were very grateful and keen to try it out for themselves.
